In-Depth Premise

In Penny Lane there is a barber showing photographs
Of every head he's had the pleasure to know
And all the people that come and go
Stop and say hello

No warning. No previous signs. No explanation. But everyone's story has a middle bit that sounds the same. It involves the mentioning of a "blinding white light" and then the "feeling of the worst hangover imagineable."

This is how they came to Penny Lane.

Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes
There beneath the blue suburban skies
I sit, and meanwhile back

Penny Lane is a main street in a place that doesn't exist; least not any map. It's a picture perfect sight from the sixties mod culture and yet modern day novelties can be found. The sun always sets a different color. the clouds tinted shades as well - and at night the stars sparkle to a inaudible universal symphony. Penny Lane eventually turns into a (dirt) long and winding road that runs thru strawberry fields and ends at the Sea of Time. On the edge of the strawberry fields, nestled at the brim of the woods, are caves that burrow underground.

At the other end of the Lane there's a different street visible, even people going about their lives, but they never seem to take notice of those in Penny Lane. And those in Penny Lane cannot get passed the street marker or be heard by those on the other street.

No matter which way you try to go; there's no escaping Penny Lane no matter what. Machines that travel through time and space don't work, and those who can open portals between worlds at the wave of a hand find their power lacking. You can run and run and run - but you'll end up back where you started. You can try navigating the green waters of the Sea of Time - but you'll be dead before you lose sight of land. Braving the woods passed the strawberry fields only brings talk from the lonely locals of murderous creatures called Blue Meanies.

The locals are a mystery of their own. Each one has an equally tragic story and you can't help but ask yourself "Where'd they all come from?" All they've ever known is Penny Lane. Nothing of alternate dimensions or space travel.

Some people go mad. Some try to find a way out. Some cope with the better life they've been given. But they're all together now. And this is their story.

In Penny Lane the barber shaves another customer
We see the banker sitting waiting for a trim
And then the fireman rushes in
From the pouring rain, very strange

----------------------------------------------------------------

Specifics

The location: Alternate 'bubble' of dimension. Called Pepperland. Basically they can see out to the real universe but can't get out and outsiders can't get in unless chosen.

Sea of Time: Think along the lines of a reverse Fountain of Youth. You drink it? You age a few months. Go in the water? You start to age. Even sailors on ships aren't safe as the wood ages, cracks and gives way. There's no cure. To quote Dave Matthews; "Don't Drink the Water."

Strawberry Fields: There are fields of strawberries on either side of the Long and Winding Road. That's it.

Lonely Hearts Club: Local and only pub.

Octopus's Garden: A lagoon like this. Completely safe to swim in and not affected by the Sea of Time.

Apartments/Flats/Houses: Blue Jay - Room. Lounge/Living room. Blackbird - Room. Lounge/Living room. Houses have both versions. Kitchens look like this. And I'm not photo hunting for a bathroom so just imagine. All housing comes with working everything; a television (color), a computer with internet access, and record player.

Electronic devices: They can't call/text/reach outside of Penny Lane. Mobiles and laptops work, just you can't talk to anyone in the real universe and the only websites available that don't come up error are the ones regarding business in Penny Lane, and a town website/message board (pennylane.com - which is what emails will be based on. For example; Adam Monroe's email would be a.monroe@pennylane)

Arrival/Departure: It's an enigma. Always. You're ripped from time/space/existence and plopped into Pepperland.

Blue Meanies: Not like the Yellow Submarine versions. Not even close. They're murderous/tortureous monsters who resemble humans.. in a 7' blue skinned, red-eyed, raspy voice, sense. They've got incredible strength but aren't invincible. Though how they're able to be killed won't be revealed just yet. Blue Meanies aren't happy-campers(just look at the name,) and the only time they laugh is when they're causing pain. The blood in their veins is a mixture of poison and pure hate. Day or night, it doesn't matter to them, they like to hunt.

Poison: The Blue Meanies have apple trees growing at the edge of the forest; the apples are a brilliant crimson from the poison. Sometimes they get into the strawberries as well. Consuming the poison, or being exposed to it causes the victim to immediately feel weak and light headed(stage one.) Eye color starts to cloud and change to either red, blue or all white. Then as the skin pales and the shadow's on features, and even hair, darken blue, they begin to hallucinate their darkest fears(stage two.) Lastly, the victim develops a violent nature towards people they know and tries to spread the poison through biting/scratching/etc. Oh, and they get a ghoulish grin(stage three.) Stage four = full fledged Blue Meanie, incurable. Some who cannot handle the transition die.
Consumption - 1 week incubation
Bitten - 2 week incubation
Scratched - 3 week incubation
No one is immune to it. There is a cure. But it's not available at this point in time.

The communities themselves(and some unofficial rules):
OnPennyLane - for threading anywhere in Penny Lane. It's asked that you please use the 'Who,What,Where,When,Rating,Status' method at the beginning of your posts whether they're group or narrative. So some of you might bring up; "But hey the song starts out 'IN' Penny Lane.. Wtf?" - And to that I say excellent observation! OnPennyLane just sounded better in a common sense way.. That and InPennyLane AND PennyLane have already been taken.

PleaseMrPostman - for emails/packages/letters/texts/phonecalls/news. It is also a fantastic song (like all), so download it or listen on YouTube.

TwistAndShout - consider it a public message board type of thing. Your character can see other peoples 'screen names' and their avatars/icons/whatever people call them now. It is NOT a communications group. Private messages to other characters should go in PleaseMrPostman. Also? Don't spam it with posts everyday; while it's lovely you want to be active, people tend to get annoyed when they see 18 threads from you on their friends list.

GooGooGJoob - OOC. No "I'm bored, who wants to thread?" posts. Make Open threads for that. Other than that I really don't care what goes in there. But if you want to promote other Rp sites/your rp? Take it up with the mod or it'll be deleted and you'll get a warning.

Special thank you to Exxie for helping with the idea!
